Dear Neighbor,
Thousands of Italian Americans make up the tapestry of our great City of Yonkers, enriching traditions and making lasting contributions. It is the diversity of our City connects us all.
Today – we recognize Columbus Day, a day in which some of us reflect on the contributions of Italian Americans.
Many of our neighbors have roots tracing back to Italy, including myself. My grandparents immigrated from Bari, Italy and I watched them find success, build a family and make a home here in Yonkers.
Today, many of our Italian American neighbors are educators, military service members, first responders, health care workers and play a vital role in the growth and development of our City and future generations.
Please join me in recognizing the history and the many achievements Italian-Americans have accomplished in the City of Yonkers and beyond.
