A Yonkers city communication staffer charged with drunken driving in a wrong-way crash is now facing a civil complaint, in which the driver of the other vehicle accuses him of causing extensive injuries.
Lawrence Patton of Wappingers Falls accused Akeem Jamal of causing severe injuries and financial loss to him in the complaint filed last month.
As a result of the crash, Patton sustained permanent injuries that will require continued medical care, the complaint stated. Patton also can't "perform his usual and customary daily activities for a longer period of time."....

A lawsuit has been filed against Yonkers mayoral aide Akeem Jamal over an alleged drunk driving, wrong-way crash in September.
The victim of the crash, 53-year-old Lawrence Patton, of Wappingers Falls, is suing Jamal for what he describes as dangerous driving, resulting in serious, permanent injuries.

The city of Yonkers is apparently allowing an employee to return to work once he recovers from his injuries after he was charged with drinking and driving and involved in a crash.
It's been two months since Akeem Jamal, the newly appointed Yonkers deputy communications director, was allegedly driving while intoxicated. Despite that, the city of Yonkers says it is taking him back.

Yonkers Deputy Communication Director Akeem Jamal was involved in a head-on crash on Sunday that left him and another driver with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Jamal, 22, had been operating a BMW in the wrong direction when he collided with another vehicle driven by a 53-year-old Wappinger Falls resident, according to a preliminary investigation.
At approximately 4:47 a.m., officials responded to the accident at Central Park Avenue at Palmer Road. Jamal and the other driver had non-life-threatening head and bodily injuries when they were brought to a local trauma center, police said in a statement.
This summer, Mayor Mike Spano appointed Jamal as the city's deputy communication's director. He has been a member of the mayor's administration since January 2015. ...
