At an Assembly Senate Joint Hearing on the proposed State Budget, Assemblyman Sayegh posed a number of questions on aid to education, asking for support for his legislation to require State School Aid be based on the most recent U.S. Census. The State Education Department is using data from the 2000 U.S. Census. Both he and Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano again pointed out that Yonkers Public Schools are penalized when State School Aid is distributed because Yonkers is situated in a high wealth county.
