I'm profoundly saddened to learn about the untimely on-duty death of a member of the Yonkers Police Department in yesterday afternoon's major motor vehicle accident on the Tuckahoe Avenue overpass of the Sprain Brook Parkway. The 24-year veteran of the Department was widely beloved by his colleagues and our entire community.
Today is a wrenching reminder of the extraordinarily difficult job members of law enforcement do in the service of our communities, and why we must be supportive and show gratitude to those who serve every day. My deepest sympathies go out to the Detective-Sargeant's loved ones and our tight-knit Yonkers Police Department family as they mourn this heartbreaking tragedy. I ask that all residents of our City say a prayer for our officers and their families, today and every day.
