New York Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and Grassy Sprain Pharmacy Owner & Pharmacist Anthony Ciarletta joined Assemblyman Sayegh to welcome the end of sales taxes on diapers.
The Sayegh Diaper Act was passed unanimously in both the Assembly and State Senate:
Sayegh DIAPER Act – Chapter 386 of the Laws of 2022
49 out of 62 Counties & 17 Cities Taxed Diapers until Nov. 30
In Westchester County, the cities of New Rochelle, White Plains, Mount Vernon and Yonkers all taxed diapers.
Effective December 1, 2022, the Sayegh Diaper Act takes effect, so that from this day forward, retail sales of diapers intended for human use are exempt from state and local sales and use taxes.
This includes, but is not limited to, disposable, reusable, adult, and children's diapers.
