Tree Lighting Events will take place at a number of locations in Yonkers over the next few days, starting with Today's Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at Getty Square in Downtown Yonkers. The event featured live entertainment by The Yuletide Carolers, free hot chocolate, candy canes, Santa, and much more! The City of Yonkers has posted a schedule of the holiday events for the beginning of December. December 1st also represented the culmination of to a lengthy legislative effort that my office spent many hours on in 2022, with the enactment of the Sayegh Diaper Act. Collecting sales taxes on diapers and adult incontinence products just seemed wrong, they are necessities. All members of the Assembly and Senate agreed and voted unanimously to exempt these items from all sales taxes. I thank my Legislative Colleagues and Governor Kathy Hochul for helping alleviate the financial burden on New Yorkers.
