2021 was one of the hottest years in recorded history, and we are seeing more severe storms due to climate change. The time for bold action is now, with a common sense approach to a Green Energy Future that moves us forward without hurting family budgets or our economy.
That’s why I voted for the Advanced Building Codes, Appliance and Equipment Efficiency Standards Act of 2022 (A.10439). This legislation strengthens the efficiency standards for new and modified buildings – the largest source of energy consumption in the state – and sets new appliance efficiency and performance standards. Increasing energy efficiency is a proven way to cut home and business energy usage and costs.
I also co-sponsor another common sense bill on climate change, that would require new buildings to be all electric, starting in 2024 through 2027, to give the building industry time to plan ahead.
New York State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh.
