To help New Yorkers coping with record high gasoline prices, I voted to cut state gas taxes for the next six months (June 1 to December 31st, 2022). So far, the tax reductions are not turning up at the pumps at the level hoped for and I am concerned that gasoline refiners and distributors may not be passing these savings onto consumers.
I urge New York Attorney General Letitia James to investigate this lack of price reduction and to learn if illegal price gouging is underway.
New York State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh.
