October Residential Electricity Supply Rate Comparison:
ConED Standard Supply vs. Westchester Power 100% Renewable.
October Residential Rates
Avg. ConEd Standard Rate | WP 100% Renewable Fixed Rate |
8.56¢/kWh | 7.41¢/kWh |
Below is an approximate electricity cost comparison for a hypothetical Greenburgh resident in October
- For a Greenburgh resident on the ConEd standard supply who consumed 500 kWh of electricity in October, that customer would have been charged roughly $42.80 for their electric supply
- For customers enrolled in Westchester Power under the 100% Renewable fixed rate, the charge for electricity for 500 kWhs consumed would have been roughly $37.05
- This would have been an estimated savings of $5.75 for that hypothetical customer.
$42.80-$37.05= $5.75 estimated savings in October
Looking forward…
Heading into what are typically highest priced months of the year for electricity supply (the winter), we feel optimism that Westchester Power fixed rates could continue to be the lower price option vs the ConEd standard supply, as utility prices have already been trending upward prior to this season. But as always, we cannot predict utility rates nor guarantee savings with our supply service.
Options for Greenburgh residents
Residents who may have opted out of the Westchester Power electricity supply option in the past are still eligible to opt back in. The current contract price is locked in until June 30 of next year.
For residents who are already in the program or want to participate, but don’t want to be enrolled at the 100% Renewable level, the program does also offer a Standard Supply that is a fixed rate of 6.75¢/kWh.
Residents who want to enroll, change their supply, or opt-out can visit the Westchester Power page on the Sustainable Westchester website at https://sustainablewestchester.org/wp/ or call Sustainable Westchester at (914) 242-4725 for live assistance
