Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I'm proud to report that at our last board meeting my colleagues on the Westchester County Board of Legislators joined me in voting to approve an agreement I helped arrange that will allow Mount Vernon to lease four Westchester County police vehicles for a dollar, helping keep the city save during its payment crisis.
The cars, which were due to come offline at the County, will immediately go into service for daily patrol operations by the Mount Vernon Police Department, helping our city police at a time when non-payment to vendors has hampered the city's ability to help police vehicles in operation.
I'd like to thank County Executive George Latimer, Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins, and Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard for working together with my office to make this happen. This is how neighbors help neighbors and show how effective, cooperative, and fiscally prudent government leadership can respond intelligently and creatively to real community needs.
I'd also like to thank Mount Vernon Police Commissioner Glenn Scott and Westchester County Public Safety Commissioner Thomas Gleason for their vital cooperation.
Sincerely,
