WESTCHESTER COUNTY CLERK CANDIDATE SHANAE WILLIAMS RELEASES FIRST VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT.
YONKERS, NY – April 30, 2021 – Yonkers City Councilwoman and Westchester County Clerk candidate Shanae Williams today released her first campaign advertisement video highlighting her experience as a first-generation immigrant growing up in Westchester County. Williams would be the first woman and person of color to serve as Westchester County Clerk. Williams is challenging the sixteen-year incumbent in the June 22nd Democratic primary.
“I am proud to share my story with the voters,” said Williams. “I am proud to have lived the American immigrant experience, and my story is just one of thousands across Westchester County. Growing up as an immigrant in Westchester shaped my values and the kind of public servant that I am to this day. I understand the struggles of hardworking families across Westchester and I’m running for County Clerk to give struggling families a voice in county government and to increase access to county services for all Westchester residents.”
In the ad, Williams states “When you have the lens that I have, you’re constantly thinking about people from marginalized communities, people from underserved communities, people who just don’t know how to go about getting access to resources and information. That’s why I’m running for Westchester County Clerk.”
“We need public officials who are not living in the shadows,” continues Williams. “In fact, we need people who are in the communities, on the ground, who understand the needs of the communities so they can best service them. I can’t help myself but wonder what life is like for the next immigrant girl coming to America for the first time. I’m running for Westchester County Clerk for that little girl, so that she knows that she can do anything and be anything, so that her American dream can come true.”
