I am deeply honored to join the Gualdino Family, Yonkers Police Department, City Leaders, and our community in dedicating the Tuckahoe Road overpass at the Sprain Brook Parkway as the “Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino Memorial Bridge.” This renaming is a permanent tribute to Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino, whose service, sacrifice, and commitment to Yonkers will never be forgotten.
As the Sponsor of the legislation, I was committed to ensuring that Frank’s legacy would be memorialized for future generations. Working closely with Mayor Mike Spano, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza, we introduced and advanced this legislation to designate the Tuckahoe Bridge Overpass in his honor.
Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino was a hero who embodied the best of our city and our police force, serving with valor and dedication. This bridge will now stand as a symbol of his sacrifice, reminding us of all those who put their lives on the line to protect our community. I thank my colleagues, our community, and especially Frank’s family for supporting this effort. Together, we honor Frank’s life, his legacy, and his lasting impact on Yonkers.
On Election Day, I had the privilege of exercising my right to vote, and I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who did the same. Voting is not just a right, it’s a responsibility, and every vote counts in shaping the future of our communities and our nation.
Additionally, I presented a $25,000 Grant to the Hudson River Museum to support educational programming related to the Planetarium and environmental sciences and sustainability at the Museum. We want to help address the urgent need for new technology in the Planetarium. Growing up in Yonkers I would love coming to the Museum as a kid, so it is very exciting to see how important a part of the community it still is today.
Moreover, I'm thrilled to announce that the Yonkers Police Athletic League Center (PAL), has been awarded $4 Million in State Funding to support essential capital improvements. This significant investment will allow the PAL to make substantial renovations across the facility, enhancing its capacity to serve our community more effectively. This project underscores our commitment to investing in programs that empower young people, helping them to thrive and build a stronger future for our entire community.
Congratulations to the American Irish Association of Westchester on its 50th Anniversary! It was an honor to celebrate this milestone alongside so many dedicated community members and to recognize the achievements of this year’s honorees: Denise O'Flynn Donaghy, John Donaghy, Keith Murphy, and Fr. Paul Mooney. Their contributions have strengthened our community and continue to celebrate the rich heritage of Irish culture in Westchester.
I again call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon! I urge all involved parties to engage in negotiations for a lasting peace agreement, which includes the release of all hostages and prisoners. Additionally, it is imperative that the international community promptly addresses the hunger, starvation, and displacement affecting the entire population of Gaza, and now Northern Israel, Lebanon, and the West Bank. From the start of this conflict, nearly 50,000 have died, over 150,000 are injured, and over 2 million displaced from their homes. This must stop immediately! |
