MAYOR MIKE SPANO & CITY OF YONKERS TO COMMEMORATE 9/11 AT TWO REMEMBRANCE CEREMONIES WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11.

 

Yonkers 9/11 Waterfront Memorial at 8:30 A.M.; Conor Park 9/11 Monument at 7:00 P.M.

 

Mayor Mike Spano will be joined by members of the Yonkers community at two events on Wednesday, September 11 to remember and honor the 26 Yonkers residents who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and those who have passed due to the effects of the tragic event.

 

The City’s remembrance ceremonies will take place at the Yonkers 9/11 Waterfront Memorial (Water Grant St.) at 8:30 A.M. and at Conor Park at 7:00 P.M., where the City dedicated a monument derived from a 38-foot, 4,000 lb. piece of World Trade Center steel.

 

Yonkers City Hall will participate in the Tribute in Light, a statewide remembrance where buildings, bridges, and landmarks light up in blue. For the first time, YonkersTron will have a special display between the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., showcasing the photos and names of the 26 lives lost in the attacks. Additionally, Yonkers City Hall TV will feature a memorial tribute with photos and names commemorating the lives lost.
