A call for critical gun & public safety legislation.I stand with Senator Shelley Mayer, Westchester County elected officials & advocates from Everytown for Gun Safety. |
This week, Senator Shelley Mayer was joined by elected officials from around Westchester and gun-sense advocates from Everytown, as she urged Governor Kathy Hochul to sign two critical pieces of legislation promoting gun and public safety. The first piece of legislation will require courts to report ERPOs - Extreme Risk Protection Orders - directly to a statewide digital registry, ensuring that police are equipped with more timely data regarding existing ERPOs. The second calls for more information regarding safe storage laws to be issued alongside gun licenses, and requires the Division of Criminal Justice Services to conduct a public awareness campaign about NY's safe storage laws. As District Attorney, it is absolutely critical that I work with our local officials to do everything in my power to eradicate senseless gun violence in our communities – which is why I am proud to stand with Senator Mayer on this initiative. |
