On Friday, August 23, 2024, we celebrated an important holiday by raising the flag of Ukraine in front of the Unity Fountain at City Hall.  The day embodies the unity, pride and invisibility of the Ukrainian people. 

The history of this holiday dates back to 2004, when it was officially established in honor of the raising of the blue and yellow flag over the Verkovna Rada of Ukraine in 1991, on the day of the declaration of Independence. The actual Ukrainian Independence Day is celebrated on August 24.
