I was proud, along with Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins to sponsor Bill A8359/S8121 which designates the Tuckahoe Road overpass above the Sprain Brook Parkway as the Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino Memorial Bridge. Special thanks are extended to Senate Sponsor Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Senator Shelley B. Mayer, Mayor Mike Spano, Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza, County Legislator James Nolan, and the Gualdino family-especially his wife Lisa Gualdino- for their invaluable cooperation and support in this endeavor.
Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino's life was tragically cut short in a collision on the Tuckahoe road overpass over the Sprain Brook Parkway on December 1, 2022. He dedicated 24 years of unwavering service to the Yonkers Police Department, leaving an indelible mark through his assignments in the 3rd Precinct, Traffic Court, and the Traffic/Motorcycle Unit. Whether tackling minor tasks or monumental responsibilities, Detective Sergeant Gualdino approached his duties with unparalleled grace, enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication. I witnessed Frank’s compassion and professionalism appearing before him in his Yonkers Traffic Court duties and considered him a dear friend.
His commitment extended beyond the badge; it was a statement to his profound love for his career, city, and cherished family. Detective Sergeant Gualdino's legacy of loyalty and devotion merits profound recognition from the state of New York.
