Fellow Democrats,
I cannot thank you enough for helping me secure a convincing victory in this week’s primary.
It is often said that the first re-election is the hardest, and this race was certainly no exception. Yet the overwhelming number of you stood by me against a barrage of dishonest attacks that started in the fall of last year. You saw through it and used your greatest power in a democracy: your right to vote for the leadership and the future you want. I am grateful and humbled to have been your choice on Tuesday night. This victory goes to you!
As we look forward to the general election in November and to a new legislative term next year, there will be much more to do. Working together, I know that we can succeed beyond our biggest expectations. So on to the next fight, and then on to building a welcoming, affordable state that protects our people, our economy and our environment — the kind of New York we all want and deserve.
New York State Assemblywoman MaryJane Shimsky 92nd District.
