On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, the Yonkers City Council held a Stated City Council Meeting. All items on the agenda appear below, as well as the decisions taken by the City Council in regard to these items.

Mental Health & Community Services Committee 1.      A Local Law amending Section C14-20, entitled “Reserved” of Part E, entitled Office of Human Rights and Affirmative Action”, of Article XIV of the Charter of the City of Yonkers, entitled “Department of Parks Recreation and Conversation”. (Held in Committee for further discussion)   2.      Resolution calling upon the New York State Legislature to pass, and the Governor to sign, A.1493/S. 2721, in relation to establishing a New York State office of civil representation to provide access to legal services in eviction proceedings. (Held in Committee for further discussion) Municipal Operations & Public Safety Committee 1. A Local Law amending Chapter 47 of the Code of the City of Yonkers entitled "Outdoor Signs" (Held in Committee for further discussion) 2. A General Ordinance amending Chapter 109 of the Code of the City of Yonkers entitled "Vehicles and Traffic” in relation to speed limit (Held in Committee for further discussion) City Council Rules Committee Meeting 1. Special Ordinance – authorizing the Sexual Risk Avoidance Education Program (SRAEP) Grant from the Westchester County Youth Bureau in the amount of $27,426.00 and amending the City of Yonkers Grant Budget for Fiscal Year 2023. (Adopted 7-0) 2. Resolution – authorizing the Mayor to execute an amended Intermunicipal Agreement with Westchester County for the Sexual Risk Avoidance Education Program. (Adopted 7-0) 3. Resolution – Settlement - PAYABLE TO CITY OF YONKERS) – Piekarz v. Yonkers Parking Authority – $30,000 (Adopted 7-0) 4. Resolution – urging the Yonkers Public Schools to utilize Project Labor Agreements for certain appropriate construction projects. (Held) 5. Resolution – issuing a Home Rule Message for Senate Bill No. S-6821 and Assembly Bill No. A-7237, an act to amend the Local Finance Law, in relation to the Sales Tax of the City of Yonkers. (Adopted 7-0) 6. Resolution – issuing a Home Rule Message for Senate Bill No. S-6825 and Assembly Bill No A-7239, in relation to Income Tax of the City of Yonkers. (Adopted 7-0) 7. Resolution – issuing a Home Rule Message for Senate Bill No. S-6822 and Assembly Bill No. A-7238, an act to amend the Local Finance Law, in relation to the Mortgage Recording Tax of the City of Yonkers. (Adopted 7-0) 8. Resolution requesting the Planning Board of the City of Yonkers to serve as “Lead Agency” for amendment of Chapter 43 of the Code of the City of Yonkers, commonly known as the Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map of the City of Yonkers, for premises known as 590-610 and 614 South Broadway, designated as Block 30 Lot 56,58,60,62-66 59, & 52.54 for the extension of the South Broadway Special District. (Adopted 7-0) 9. Resolution - observing National Public Works Week and declaring the week of May 21 through May 27, 2023, as “Yonkers Public Works Week''. (Adopted 7-0) 10. Resolution - declaring the 19th of June, 2023 as “Juneteenth” in the City of Yonkers. (Adopted 7-0)   11. Resolution - declaring the month of June 2023 “LGBTQ + Pride Month.” (Adopted 7-0) 12.Resolution - Advice and consent to the appointment of Maria Chiulli to the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Board (Adopted 7-0) 13.
