The New York State Assembly convenes at the State Capitol Wednesday and I will continue to advocate for the City of Yonkers and for an economy that works for all New Yorkers. I was recently interviewed by Yonkers Tribune Editor Hezi Aris where I discussed legislation I sponsored and passed that has been signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul. Two pieces of legislation on utility storm outages are now law that prioritize restoration for first responders and residents who rely on life saving medical equipment. My Diaper Act exempted all diapers from sales taxes. Consumer Protection legislation I sponsored stops fees and unreasonable early expiration dates on gift cards and certificates. Also signed into law, changes to New York State laws that used outdated gendered language, and authorizing Westchester County to waive certain fees for Veterans Organizations. I also discussed some of my goals for the Legislative Session which starts January 4.
