THE SECOND INSTALLMENT OF “THURSDAY TIDINGS” IS REMAINS SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 22.
YONKERS MAYOR SPANO LAUNCHING THURSDAY TIDINGS TO CELEBRATE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF SAW MILL RIVER DAYLIGHTING.
With a beautiful backdrop of the Saw Mill River Daylighting, decked out in lights, Mayor Mike Spano and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation are launching Thursday Tidings to spread Yuletide cheer.
Neighbors and commuters are encouraged to take in the sights along the daylighting and listen to the sounds of the season. A group of 40 students from Yonkers Montessori Academy will sing carols at Van Der Donck Park at Larkin Plaza across from the Metro North Train Station on Thursday, December 15 at 4:30 PM, at 41 Dock Street, Yonkers.
Thursday Tidings will continue next week with student singers from Yonkers Middle High School. They will be caroling Thursday, December 22 at 4:30 PM on the corner of New Main Street and Ann Street.
The Saw Mill River Daylighting Project, a major initiative of the Spano Administration, began ten years ago and has enhanced economic development and job creation in the City of Yonkers. The $19 million project has revived the Saw Mill River after it was discovered buried for nearly a century beneath the streets of downtown Yonkers.
