Governor Kathy Hochul and I were all smiles as we celebrated the record $360 million for Yonkers Public Schools our delegation was able to obtain in the 2022-23 State Budget at the Enrico Fermi School, a school I myself once attended many years ago.
My life is a testament to the power of a quality public education, and I've dedicated much of my professional life to ensure that our children will be able to have access to a robust public education that allows them to meet their God-given potential. At this School Aid Celebration, Enrico Fermi School Student Government President 8th Grader Kelsey introduced Mayor Mike Spano, County Executive George Latimer, State Senator Shelley Mayer, Governor Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Yonkers Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Edwin Quezada, and myself. Together, we are making strides to ensure that children like Kelsey can obtain an education that allows them to follow their dreams.
