The Foundation for the Yonkers Public Library (FYPL) held its annual Gala at the Grinton I. Will Branch on Central Avenue. The Gala celebrated the tenures of two beloved Library Directors, Ed Falcone and Susan Thaler.
Libraries continue to be important focal points for our community. Outside of the wide selection of literary resources they contain, individuals can access many services such as job fairs, english language classes, after-school resources, and more. In addition, libraries provide resources such as e-books and movies for those at home. It's why the New York State Assembly continues to make meaningful investments in libraries statewide. Under the tenure of Ed and Susan, they helped expand these resources for Yonkers residents. I was proud to present them with a New York State Assembly Citation to commemorate their decades of work.
The event was also held at the newly renovated Will Library Branch which Ed and Susan also helped plan. Thanks to their deep commitment to our library, one of our Community's finest spaces will remain accessible to the public for years to come. I'm proud to have obtained funding through grants to help shepherd this project and will continue to support our libraries in the Assembly.
