On Wednesday, I made sure to make it back in time from Albany for the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement Fundraising Gala sponsored by NYSNA (New York State Nursing Association) here in Yonkers
The promotion of diverse workers in organized labor is an issue I remain deeply committed to and something I've advanced throughout my career. It's why at this event, I was proud to recognize local leaders in organized labor that have advanced policies within their respective organizations to advance people of color in meaningful and substantive professions.
Among those recognized were Samantha Rosado-Ciriello, President of the Yonkers Federation of Teachers, Katherine Rivera, Tower Operator for New York City Transit TWU Local 100, Lionel Turner, President of CSEA Local 860, and Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Paterson Howard of the City of Mount Vernon. I'm proud to have worked with each of them personally and can attest to their exemplary commitment to both organized labor and people of color. Excelsior!
