This week I was invited to a Zoom Meeting with Governor Kathy Hochul, and Dr. Debbie Almontaser, Senior Advisor of Emgage Action Metro NY, and organization members, to discuss the very worthy goals of Emgage, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between elected officials and Muslim Americans.
During the meeting I was able to remind Governor Hochul of the importance of a $2.5 million grant I am requesting to increase safety and combat crime affecting the Yemeni American Merchants Association (YAMA) in Yonkers and the Bronx. The funding would support silent alarms linking small businesses and corner stores, owned by YAMA members, with their local police precinct.
