Wishing my friends in the Dominican-American Community in Yonkers and across New York State a very happy Independence Day! On this day 178 years ago, the Dominican Republic received its independence from Spain.

Today, I was proud to stand alongside civic leaders in celebrating this illustrious community that has contributed so much to our City, our State, and our Nation.
