Yonkers Insider: Update on Yonkers City Council President Mike Khader.

 


We write this Piece as an Update of Yonkers City Council President Mike Khader, who will leave Elected Office on December 31st.

The Journal News did a Front Page Story in it's November 29th Edition had A story in it about the Restarting of an Investigation into Yonkers City Council President Mike Khader by the Office of the Yonkers Inspector General. 

The News Story Provided Little New Information on this Particular Subject of the Inquiry into Yonkers City Council President Mike Khader. 

The Story in The Journal News did include in it's Story that Judge Joan Lefkowitz had ruled that Investigation into Mike Khader by City of Yonkers Inspector General Liam McLaughlin can continue. The Only Caveat was that Judge Lefkowitz cancelled the Prior Subpoenas issued for Khader's Income Tax Records and Bank Records. After Mike Khader Attorney, Randolph McLaughlin (No Relation to Yonkers IG Liam McLaughlin) had filed a motion to squash those Subpoenas.

The Issues in this Investigation were brought out in the Last Few Weeks before The Democratic Party Primary for Yonkers City Council President, A Democratic Party Primary that Council President Khader lost to Lakisha Collins-Bellamy, Now Yonkers City Council President Elect.

There were 2 Focused Issues that were brought out and will now be Investigated and They are the Following: (1) One Allegation was that Khader had benefited Improperly from an agreement to rent Office Space from Attorney Jeff Buss, who later became Appointed Counsel for the Yonkers City Council. (2) That Council President Khader had improperly treated Female Staff Members and A Specific Allegation had come from Former Yonkers City Council President Employee Karen Schullere, In a Letter She sent to Yonkers City Council President Mike Khader.

Inspector General Liam McLaughlin had decide to hire Outside Counsel to Proceed with the Investigation into City Council President Mike Khader, because of a Conflict that McLaughlin had disclosed the fact in 2017, that Mike Khader had defeated Then Yonkers City Council President Liam McLaughlin in the Election that Year for Yonkers City Council President.

In the Journal News Piece: Yonkers Inspector General Liam McLaughlin Confirmed that his Office was proceeding with the Investigation. We at Yonkers Insider will keep our Readers Posted on the Outcome of this Investigation into Yonkers City Council President Mike Khader by the Office of the Yonkers Inspector General. 

Some New Information from A Political Perspective in that Journal News Piece was that Mike Khader had gotten in touch with Yonkers Democratic Party and Chair Tom Meier to discuss his interest in running for Yonkers City Court Judge Next Year. Dan Murphy of Yonkers Rising had reached out to Leader Meier, who had told Dan Murphy that while Khader inquired about the race for Yonkers City Court Judge, that he later withdrew his name from Consideration for Yonkers City Court Judge Seat. Meier also told Murphy that 14 other Yonkers Democrats are very interested in filling the vacancy of the Soon to be New York State Supreme Court Judge and his name is Yonkers City Court Judge - Judge Tom Quinones.

Many People believe that Mike Khader will attempt to make A Political Comeback down the Road, Since His Campaign has a War Chest of $117,000 Remaining in his Campaign Committee.
