Men's Basketball at Fairfield New Date Announced.

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan men's basketball game against Fairfield scheduled for Friday, Dec. 31, has been rescheduled.

Manhattan will visit Fairfield on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. The game will be played at the Webster Bank Arena.

The Jaspers sit at 8-3 overall and 1-1 in MAAC play on the year. The 8-3 start is the best start since 2013-14 when the Jaspers started 11-2.

As of today, there are 5,554 active cases in the City of Yonkers, a more than 200% increase from the 1,600 cases that we reported last week. Please do everything in your power to protect yourselves and others by socially distancing, wearing masks, and being intentional with those you gather with. As an FYI, the Yonkers Public Schools will be offering free COVID-19 tests on Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 10am to 1pm at multiple locations to ensure YPS staff and students have a safe return to school on Monday, January 3, 2022. Test Kits Available at Yonkers Office of Emergency Management Starting Today at 2PM While Supplies Last.

 

YONKERS, NY – December 27, 2021 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced the City is distributing a limited supply of at-home rapid COVID-19 tests to residents, made available by New York State. Starting today at 2PM while supplies last, residents can pick up an at-home test kit (two tests per kit) at Yonkers Office of Emergency Management (OEM), located at 1000 Saw Mill River Road. Kits are limited to one per household and proof of Yonkers residency is required.


“The rise of COVID-19 cases over the last few weeks has affected all of us, especially as we gather for the holiday season,” said Mayor Spano. “We are appreciative to Governor Hochul for making these home testing kits available to our residents so we can continue to take the necessary precautions to help curb the spread of this highly contagious variant.”


Distribution is available by walk-up and by a dedicated drive-thru traffic lane at 1000 Saw Mill River Road.


As of December 23rd, Yonkers recorded over 2,500 active COVID-19 cases, marking the most confirmed cases since February 2021.

For health and safety reasons, due to the increased Covid infection rates, we find it prudent not to provide Satellite Taxes Offices at this time.

Tax payments can be made by check at the address on your bill, online at www.yonkersny.gov, by phone at 866-377-9665 or at the City Hall drop box at the entrance to City Hall. City Hall normal business hours at 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Mr. John Morrison and 100 Black Fathers For Change along with Stew Leonard hosted their first annual Toy Drive at The Yonkers Brewing Company.  Friday night they held the official 100 Black Fathers Meet & Greet and Toy Drive.  Sunday the toys were distributed.  

The Westchester 100 Black Fathers for Change is a committed organization of Black Men whose mission is to restore optimal manhood lives and establish balance, harmony, and order in Black families and communities.  Great Event For A Great Cause!

Yonkers Insider: THE MATTHEW WALLACE FOUNDATION'S SPARK THE SPIRIT OF GIVING EVENT.


On Saturday, December 18, I had the honor of being a sponsor of The Matthew Wallace Foundation's Spark the Spirit of Giving event.  That afternoon, they distributed  over 300 turkey and holiday groceries and over 1,200 toys to families in need in memory of Matthew Wallace. 

This year Santa Claus, Rudolph and the Gingerbread Man distributed the toys and took pictures with everyone.  

On a more personal note, I couldn't have been more proud of my two older sons who volunteered and didn't stop working until all the packing was done.
