Earlier today Mayor Patterson Howard and DPW Commissioner Bush gave an update on city operations in preparation for Hurricane Henri. NYS has already issued a State of Emergency declaration and we are asking the entire community to stay up to date with the local news and city social media outlets for emergency updates as the storm progresses.
Below Are Some City Preparedness Tips:
◦ Secure all loose items such as lawn furniture and garbage cans inside of your home. ◦ Utilize flashlights instead of candles for safer backup lighting options
◦ Station your generator outside of your home and not inside
◦ Avoid touching any down wires
◦ Avoid Parking in front of fire hydrants and street corners
◦ Do not walk In flowing water
◦ Do not drive In standing water
◦ Remember to charge your cellular devices and emergency radios
◦ The Dole Center Will Be Open for Storm Drop In Shelter
◦ Contact The Mount Vernon Fire Department for all Storm Emergencies at 914-665-2626
