Preparing for Hurricane Henri Be careful. Useful info.

Hurricane Henri is expected to make landfall along eastern Long Island tomorrow morning. Have spoken with the the Commissioner of Public Works, Rich Fon who advises that we are prepared to handle the storm.  Winds could be up significant and there could be flooding and downed trees. BE CAREFUL.

If trees are down and the police put barricades or other road closure markers don't take a risk by entering the road.

The police will be opening the Greenburgh Emergency Operations Center  at Police HQ tomorrow morning. And will coordinate with Con Ed's municipal liaison and with public works.

If there are outages we will use the Theodore Young Community Center for an emergency shelter.  Our CERT team of dedicated volunteers will be assigned as needed.

A town tree cutting crew will be on call beginning tomorrow early AM to open up roads if trees fall.

During the last storm (earlier this year) there was significant flooding on Clarendon Place and Winthrop. Received some thank you calls today from residents who appreciated seeing DPW staff  checking on drains. We are trying hard to reduce the flooding problems. We have checked drains, hotspots (where there is significant flooding during storms)  throughout the town. These drains are cleared. 

All town owned generators for town buildings have been checked to make sure that we are able to function in the event of outages. 

We anticipate that the storm will pick up and become more severe as the AM progresses and will bring in crews as needed.

We will do whatever we can to keep you and your family (and property) safe. If there are heavy winds try not to leave your home since trees can fall and cause loss of life.
