We want to discuss the causes and possible options -including applying for grants to put homes on stilts.
MEETING SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY JULY 22nd AT 9 AM IN FRONT OF 5 CLARENDON PLACE TO DISCUSS RECENT FLOODING, THE CAUSES AND POSSIBLE OPTIONS.
A meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, July 22nd at 9 AM outside 5 Clarendon Place to discuss the recent flooding problems that have impacted residents of Clarendon Place, Winthrop, the Greenville Fire House, Greenville shopping center and to discuss options, costs, obstacles. Our engineers will also share with residents what we think the possible causes were of the recent flooding.
One option that I think should be considered for flooding problems all over the town/county --a partnership with FEMA, the county, local governments and residents impacted by frequent flooding. Grants should be provided to homeowners who want to put their homes on stilts. We did this in 2004 on Babbitt Court (see article from the NY Times). We got a grant from FEMA, homes were placed on stilts. Those residents who took advantage of the program have not experienced as many problems that they previously had. This grant should be made available to any resident of the county who experiences frequent flooding problems.
