WESTCHESTER COUNTY CLERK CANDIDATE SHANAE WILLIAMS CALLS FOR RESULTS, NOT RHETORIC.
YONKERS, NY – April 29, 2021 – Yonkers City Councilwoman and Westchester County Clerk candidate Shanae Williams today assessed the state of the race for Westchester County Clerk and reiterated her call for proactive reform and improved management of the County Clerk’s Office. Williams is challenging the 16-year incumbent in the June 22nd Democratic Primary (early voting available June 12th).
“The Clerk’s office has a lot of untapped potential to improve services and access for Westchester County residents, and Westchester residents deserve a County Clerk with the vision and skillset to realize that potential,” said Williams. “My opponent has had 16 years to deliver a clerk’s office that works for us, but only the threat of a primary challenge has been sufficient to spur his office to consider the reforms that we need: better accessibility and outreach, expanded use of technology, and more robust engagement with local governments and organizations. The current clerk has served our county with distinction for decades, but the need for new leadership and a new vision in the clerk’s office is clear.”
“This race is an opportunity to bring a new generation of leadership to county government to face the challenges ahead of us,” added Williams. “Many in the traditional political establishment have criticized me for having the audacity to challenge the incumbent, but progress cannot be achieved through the same tired methods and ways of thinking. My opponent has had 16 years to modernize and reform the clerk’s office, but it is clear that the clerk’s office is still not living up to its full potential.”
“As your next County Clerk, I will move the clerk’s office and county government as a whole into the 21st century, expand and optimize services, and improve access to the clerk’s services for everyone including our most vulnerable populations. Westchester residents cannot afford to wait another four years for the clerk’s office to reach its full potential.”
“Since announcing my candidacy, I have been inspired by the countless Westchester residents who have expressed their enthusiasm for a new generation of leadership in White Plains. In these challenging times, Westchester residents are looking to their elected officials to innovate and deliver solutions that make their lives easier. My campaign will continue to push for meaningful reform and a new vision for the clerk’s office, and I am confident that I bring the necessary energy and skillset to deliver that change.”
