Media Advisory: LAWMAKERS, NYPD, FAMILY, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS GATHER TO DEDICATE NYPD DET. TSGT. JOSEPH G. LEMM MEMORIAL BRIDGE.
WESTCHESTER, NY -- On Monday, May 31st, Memorial Day State and local lawmakers, family, NYPD and community members will gather for the dedication of NYPD Detective Technical Sergeant Joseph G. Lemm Memorial Bridge. In 2015, Joseph G. Lemm, who was a resident of West Harrison, was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan. He was a 15-year veteran of the New York Police Department, and was serving in the U.S. Air Force after he was activated from the Air Force Reserves and New York Air National Guard. He was killed serving his third deployment overseas -- two in Afghanistan and one in Iraq.
WHAT:
In 2015, Joseph G. Lemm was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan. In 2019, the NYS enacted legislation (S4588A/A6332A) naming a portion of the State Highway system, Interstate 287 as the "NYPD Det. TSgt. Joseph G. Lemm Memorial Bridge." Lawmakers, NYPD, family and community members will gather for the dedication of the bridge.
