Dear Friends and Neighbors, Today we celebrate the Dominican and Haitian mothers and express our heartfelt gratitude for everything they do in our lives, in our families and in our communities. I want to give a special thanks to my mother for everything she imparted in me and for being a great role model for her daughters and sons. While we should always congratulate our mothers and tell them how much we love them, I want to take this opportunity to ask that we renew our commitment to give mothers the respect, support, and equality they deserve every day of the year by making sure they get equal pay, affordable child care, good health care, and recognition for the important role they play in our society at large.
