WESTCHESTER COUNTY EXECUTIVE GEORGE LATIMER WILL JOIN ELMSFORD MAYOR ROBERT WILLIAMS, ELMSFORD SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS MARC BAIOCCO, AND ONE WORLD FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOE CARVIN AT AN EARTH DAY NEWS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCING THE ELMSFORD SCHOOL DISTRICT’S DUAL PLEDGE TO BECOME ‘CLIMATE NEUTRAL NOW’ AND ‘LET’S GO ZERO’ CARBON NEUTRAL BY 2030, ON THURSDAY, APRIL 22 AT 9:30 AM AT ALEXANDER HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL, 98 SOUTH GOODWIN AVENUE IN ELMSFORD.
WESTCHESTER WAS THE FIRST COUNTY IN AMERICA TO BOAST A ‘CLIMATE NEUTRAL NOW’ SCHOOL DISTRICT DESIGNATION FROM THE UNITED NATIONS. WITH THIS DUAL PLEDGE WESTCHESTER WILL ALSO BECOME THE FIRST COUNTY OUTSIDE THE UK TO LAUNCH THE ‘LET'S GO ZERO’ 2030 PLEDGE. ELMSFORD’S PLEDGE DEMONSTRATES A GROWING COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY BY WESTCHESTER STUDENTS, WHICH ONE WORLD HOPES WILL LEAD TO WESTCHESTER BECOMING KNOWN AS GREEN COUNTY USA.
