Yonkers Insider: Election 2021 Desk: Candidate Spotlight: Former Westchester County Legislator Virginia Perez of the 17th District.

Former Westchester County Legislator Virginia Perez reenters the Political World in this race for her old seat on the Westchester County Board of Legislators in the 17th District.

She took Office on January 1st, 2012 after Defeating then Westchester County Legislator Jose Alvarado in the 2011 Elections and She didn't seek Re-Election in 2019 for her seat, so She may spend more time on her Business called Pet Luxury. One thing about Virginia Perez, she is a fighter for the People that She represented and She called them Her Extended Family and She always came to visit her Constituents on a Regular Basis.

That is so refreshing to have seen an Elected Official do that. She also held many events for her Constituents to better inform of Services available to them and Events that helped residents bring their concerns to Virginia as well. There is no in between with Virginia Perez, either You Love or you Dislike her.

This Reporter chooses the Side of Loving Virginia Perez as an Elected Official and also as a Person, I know for over 12 Years, It has been an honor to call This Beautiful Woman Inside and Out, My Personal Friend for over a Decade. I am very excited about the Opportunity to cover Her in this race for I have immense Respect for her in a lot of ways. Yonkers Insider is a Virginia Perez Fan, I am just telling the Truth and giving you some Straight Talk. In this Campaign, I will attempt to Call this Race for Westchester County Legislator in the 17th District as best I can.

Virginia Perez Bio: She was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the USA with her family as a young girl. She attended Yonkers Public Schools and graduated from Saunders Trade and Technical High School. Wanting to stay close to her family, She decided to attend Monroe Community College, where She acquired degrees in Hospitality and Business Management. During College, She was awarded an internship at the Plaza Hotel, where She was hired upon graduating.

In Late 2007, when Hurricane Noel ravaged the Dominican Republic, Virginia mobilized the Southwest Yonkers Community. Using her parent's living room as headquarters, She collected 10 Large cargo containers of Food, Water, Clothing, Shoes, Medicine, Toys and More. She followed through with shipping them and saw that they were distributed successfully to families in dire need on the Island.

When her brother was murdered, she first sought to organize a neighborhood watch program entitled Help Put Yonkers on the MAP (Martin Antonio Perez). She began to lobby the State Senate to pass legislation that She named Martin's Law. It requires Landlords, Property Owners and Management Companies to take more responsibility for the Safety of their Tenants and the general public. Frustrated with the slow pace of the Political Process, She decided she needed to Run for Office herself.

Virginia is not liked by the Political Establishment, they always made sure She had a Contest every time She ran for Re-Election and She always beat the Political Establishment in Every Race, She had for Westchester County Legislator in the 17th District. Virginia believes in reaching across the aisle to work with the Other Side of the Aisle to get things done for the betterment of Her Constituents, when She was a Westchester County Legislator, that She should not be demeaned by Anyone and In my View it should be applauded, Especially in these Very Partisan times that We currently live in.

She challenges Westchester County Legislator Jose Alvarado in a rematch from the 2011 Race for Westchester County Legislator and also in a rematch with London Reyes in this race in a rematch from 2017 from their race.

This Candidate Spotlight is the Sole View and Opinion of Yonkers Insider.
