The Yonkers City Council held several committee meetings this week, including a Community and Mental Health Services Committee Meeting on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, a Real Estate Committee Meeting on Thursday, February 4, 2021, and an Environmental Policy & Protection Committee Meeting on Friday, February 5, 2021. All items for all three agendas appear below, as well as the decisions taken by the City Council.
Community and Mental Health Services Committee Meeting:
1.Discussion of what repealing 50A means for the Yonkers Police Department. In June 2020, Governor Cuomo passed the repeal of 50A into law, which up until then allowed law enforcement to shield police misconduct records from the public.
Real Estate Committee Meeting:
1. Resolution - approving a Special Use Permit for the operation of a proposed hospital facility at Section 1, Block 493, Lots 65 and 27 on the Official Tax Map of the City of Yonkers at the property known as 35 Vark Street and 127 South Broadway. (Moved to Rules Committee meeting of February 16, 2021)
Environmental Committee Meeting Agenda:
1. General Ordinance - amending various sections of the Zoning Code of the City of Yonkers in regard to the Use Regulations for Solar Energy Collectors (Neutral Fiscal Impact) (Moved to Rules Committee meeting of February 16, 2021)
2. Local Law - establishing a Community Choice Aggregation (Energy) program in the City of Yonkers (No Fiscal Impact) (Moved to Rules Committee meeting of February 16, 2021)
3. A Local Law Creating a new chapter 52 of the Code of the City of Yonkers entitled "Building Energy Benchmark Requirements" (Kept in Environmental Committee for further discussion)
4. A General Ordinance amending Article IX of Chapter 13 of Part III of the Code of the City of Yonkers entitled "Environmentally Preferable Purchases" (Moved to Rules Committee meeting of February 16, 2021)
5. Local Law authorizing the lease of certain city properties for Solar Energy (Positive Fiscal Impact) (Kept in Environmental Committee for further discussion)
I encourage Yonkers city residents to keep up with these items to stay current on what is happening in our city!
