#LakishaForYonkers: I am so excited to announce my run for Yonkers City Council President! I threw my hat in the ring to make history as the first African-American person, and also the first woman of color, to hold the office of City Council President. I love my city, and we deserve leadership that meets the diverse needs of our community members.
We need improved quality of life and that must include access to secure affordable housing, stable jobs and a diverse workforce, quality education and better public safety measures — during and after COVID-19.
As the City Council President, I will collaborate with local government officials and city agencies to build bridges and partnerships in an effort to develop a stronger Yonkers for all.
