WESTCHESTER COUNTY LEGISLATOR CHRISTOPHER JOHNSON WINS DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION WITH OVERWHELMING SUPPORT.
(Yonkers, NY) – On January 27th, 2021 Christopher Johnson won the Democratic Nomination for Re-election as County Legislator representing the 16th District in Yonkers. With an overwhelming amount of support, he was nominated by District Leader and community member Kim Cauthen who expressed her support by emphasizing that the Legislator ``always answers the call.” No matter how big or small the ask may be.
Legislator Johnson has represented District 16 for the past three years passing a multitude of landmark pieces of legislation such as the Co-op Disclosure Law, Earned Paid Sick Leave, the Immigration Protection Act and Criminal Justice Reforms like Ban The Box. He has also fought hard for the reduction in the number of inmates at the Westchester County Jail, diversifying the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and formalizing a new and improved homeless shelter for some of our most vulnerable populations.
While COVID-19 has presented many challenges it has not gotten in the way of Legislator Johnson fighting for residents of the 16th district and he plans to continue to do so. Whether it’s handing out masks or joining in solidarity with members of the community to demand racial justice, Legislator Johnson has shown up when and where it matters. “I want to thank all of the district leaders who voted for me this evening, as well as the many people I have personally spoken to throughout my years serving this community. I’m grateful for your support and I am honored to continue representing the 16th district. I look forward to continuing to work with and for my constituents, to continuously improve the quality of life for us all.”
