WESTCHESTER FARMERS CAPTURE MAJOR JOHN ANDRE!

September 1780: 7 Westchester Farmers formed a local guard to protect the inhabitants of “West Chester” and “Philipsburg Manor” and set out walking from North Salem to Tarrytown. There they split up and Isaac Van Wart, David Williams and John Paulding took a position near the “Albany Post Road”.

The Daughters of Liberty's Legacy (DOLL) will be commemorating the 240th anniversary of the historic capture of Major John Andre
When: Sunday, Sept. 27th 2020 (12:00pm-1:30pm)
Where: The historic Hawthorne (Dutch) Reformed Church at 65 Broadway, Hawthorne.
One of the 7 farmers involved in the capture (John Yerks) is buried in the church graveyard.
Who: The Daughters of Liberty’s Legacy and Master story teller Jonathan Kruk who will reprise his role as "Isaac Van Wart" and tell us what it was like on that dramatic day.
This is an entertaining and educational must see presentation! Colonial re-enactors will be present including “Mrs. Rachel Van Wart”, wife of Isaac.
We will be social distancing and masks required. Please register so we may control occupancy.
