Our Report on Aligning Policies to Reach CLCPA Goals: We released a report with the Citizens Budget Commission identifying existing fiscal policies at odds with the goals of the landmark Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. New York State launched the third year of the largest artificial reef expansion. Governor Cuomo directed the strategic deployment of recycled materials — including a rail car donated by Wells Fargo Rail Corporation and the 70-foot steel tugboat, “Jane” — to Hempstead Reef to improve New York’s diverse marine life and boost Long Island’s recreational sport fishing and diving industries. New York Energy Research and Development Authority Chairman Richard Kauffman and Columbia University Center on Global Energy Policy Inaugural Fellow David Sandalow proposed several principles to aid state governments in investing in clean energy during these tough financial times. (Columbia.edu)
Albany County now has its own Clean Air Act, which bans new waste-burning facilities and will help prevent pollution in areas surrounding plants that burn waste. (Albany Times Union)
