Superintendents, County Executive Call for Federal COVID-19 School Safety Funding.
As Westchester County school districts begin the 2020-21 academic year, health and safety are at the forefront of everything we do. We face many challenges in implementing the extraordinary measures necessary to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic, not the least of which is finding the financial resources to run our buildings safely. Districts throughout Westchester join with County Executive George Latimer in urging federal officials to secure COVID-19 school safety funding.
Who: Ossining Superintendent Raymond Sanchez; White Plains Superintendent Joseph Ricca; Westchester County Executive George Latimer.
What: Press conference to demand emergency federal funding for COVID-19 school safety measures.
When: Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2 p.m.
Where: Roosevelt School, 190 Croton Ave., Ossining
Why: Our school districts are overburdened with the cost of personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies, additional staffing and everything else that is required to run our buildings and protect students and staff during a pandemic. Congress must provide emergency financial relief to help struggling school districts now.
