Yonkers Insider: Legislator Barr Appointed to Law & Major Contracts Committee Chair.

 

Dear Friends and Neighbors, On Monday night, September 14, we honored our former colleague Lyndon Williams with the Board of Legislator's Award for Distinguished Service, the highest honor the Board can bestow for service to the people of Westchester County.  Lyndon left the Board in August to take an appointment as City Court Judge in Mount Vernon.  Lyndon's fairness, intellectual rigor and commitment to his community, along with the guidance he provided to new legislators and his good humor through difficult times, will continue to serve as an example to us all. Lyndon had long served as Chair of the Board of Legislator's Committee on Law and Major Contracts.  With his departure, I will be stepping up to chair the Committee, and Legislator Ruth Walter will take the reins from me as Chair of the Board's Committee on Environment and Health.  Lyndon leaves enormous shoes to fill at Law and Major Contracts, and I will do my best to fill them with the same focus on crucial legal issues and financial diligence that Lyndon brought to the job. I remain committed to the work the Board has undertaken on the Environment and Health Committee, and will continue as an active committee member. There is still much work to be done as we continue to deal with the impacts of climate change, work toward stronger stewardship of our environment and natural resources, improve energy conservation, and continue to protect the health of the people of Westchester County -- especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am proud to continue to serve you and all the people of Westchester in my new role. Best,
