Yonkers, N.Y. (October 1, 2020) – On Saturday, October 3rd from 1:00-4:30 PM, Yonkers Riverfront Art Gallery is pleased to invite you to its opening reception, From New York to Amman: The Lifeworks of Fares Rizk. Curated by Haifa Bint-Kadi and co-curated by Fares Rizk, the exhibit is open for viewing Monday-Thursday from 10:00 AM-7:00 PM and Friday-Saturday from 12:00 PM-5:00 PM. The exhibit will be open from Tuesday, September 29, 2020, through Wednesday, November 25, 2020. From New York to Amman: The Lifeworks of Fares Rizk is a collection of vibrant and dynamic paintings depicting the life and times of Palestinian American artist Fares Rizk, who is also the highly celebrated drag queen, Sultana. Fares has spent his life studying the works of Picasso and Matisse and it shows in his expressive use of color and stylized designs in his infamous and intimate portraits of the people he encounters in his daily life. Fares’ works capture the spiritual, poetic, and quiet moments in time and leave you wanting to know more of the story. |

ABOUT THE GALLERY: The Riverfront Art Gallery is located on the 4th floor of the Riverfront Library, the main branch of the Yonkers Public Library. It is wheelchair accessible. The gallery opened in 2009 and exhibits contemporary, nationally and internationally acclaimed artwork. The mission of the gallery is to present a diverse and balanced schedule of exhibits of high caliber, progressive artwork and related programs not frequently seen in Yonkers and surrounding communities. The exhibit schedule is managed by a committee that is appointed by the library director. Haifa Bint-Kadi is the curator for the gallery and head of this committee. |
