Yonkers Insider: Statement from Yonkers City Council - Majority Leader Corazon Pineda Issac, 2nd District.

Hello everyone,

The U.S Census Bureau notified Westchester County that it will be halting Census 2020 efforts one month early, with operations concluding September 30th. It is now more important than ever for families to fill out the Census forms as the timeframe has been shortened. We have one month left to be counted!

The Census Bureau estimates that every resident not counted is a loss of approximately $2500 per year to local governments. This translates to a $1 Million loss for every 400 households each year. We can't afford to lose that much funding.

To help ensure an accurate count, the Census Bureau will have staff enumerators knocking on doors of households that have not yet responded to the Census. Please ask to see the official ID badge of any individual who knocks at your door, or you can confirm a Census taker’s identity by calling 1-844-330-2020. The Census enumerators will follow all Center for Disease Control COVID-19 protocols, including wearing masks and keeping a safe distance, and can assist any household with completing the Census. If you're not home when they come and they leave a Notice of Visit, please be sure to call the phone number on the Notice and give them the household identification number provided on said form, in order to complete the census questionnaire over the phone. Let's ensure we get Yonkers the money we deserve and need.
Best regards,

Hon. Corazon Pineda-Isaac
