Calling On Revel To Increase Community Engagement.
"The announcement of Revel's return to the City's streets is a matter of great concern. Revel has yet to address all of the issues that were brought up by many residents of our community. One area we wish to see Revel improve on is their community engagement. Congress Member Adriano Espaillat and I are ready to work with Revel and hold community meetings in which we can constructively address the concerns our community members have expressed.
I will be working alongside Congress Member Adriano Espaillat, Speaker Corey Johnson, DOT Commissioner Polly Trottenberg, my colleagues at Council, and advocates to ensure that we move forward with the recently introduced Moped Safety & Oversight bill. The bill would require DOT to establish procedures for shared moped organizations to apply for approval to operate in the City. In the process of determining the approval of a moped organization, the department will review whether the applying organization has met all appropriate safety protocols. This process will create an additional layer of safety precautions that moped organizations must undergo before receiving open access to our City's streets.
We will be closely monitoring Revel's return to the City and their newly implemented safety measures. We sincerely hope that these innovative changes will create a safer environment for all riders and pedestrians. As the Chairman of the Council's Transportation Committee, my priority has and always will be the safety and well-being of all New Yorkers."
