NYPD DETECTIVES' ENDOWMENT ASSOCIATION ENDORSES
ASTORINO FOR STATE SENATE.
Joins State Troopers PBA, Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff's PBA in Backing Tough-on-Crime Former County Executive for Senate Seat.
Hudson Valley-Sept. 10...
The Detectives' Endowment Association, Inc., the labor union of 19,000 active and retired New York Police Department Detectives, has joined the New York State Troopers PBA and the Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff's PBA in endorsing former two-term Westchester county executive Rob Astorino for New York State’s 40th District, which includes parts of Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties, it was today announced.
The string of law enforcement endorsements for Mr. Astorino’s candidacy grows as the effects of ill-conceived “criminal justice reform” laws out of Albany’s one-party rule alarm New Yorkers and their law enforcement officials with rising illegal gun violence and other crimes. State Senator Peter Harckham’s signature legislation last year, “no-cash-bail”, has been cited by three New York City police commissioners as the triggering event for the growing crime wave. Mr. Astorino will face off against Senator Harckham on Tuesday, November 3rd.
“We trust you will continue your support and endorsement of the law enforcement community,” said Detectives' Endowment Association President Paul E. Morrison. “In this era of unprecedented attack against the men and women in policing, we hope you will make good on your promise to attempt to repeal the ‘bail reform’ laws that were recently enacted in New York. We need to fight other anti-police bills that make it impossible for us to do our jobs. We also need to fight against defunding our City and State police.”
“Safe communities are the bedrock of society,” Mr. Astorino said, “and I’m proud to support the men and women of law enforcement who keep us safe in our homes, schools, and communities day and night. I am enormously grateful to have the support of the Detectives Endowment Association, the State Troopers PBA, the Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff’s PBA, and other law enforcement associations who understand that ‘reform’ and public safety are not mutually exclusive. One-party rule in Albany has deprived us of healthy, balanced, common-sense debate in Albany, and we’re tragically seeing the results of ill-conceived legislation in our communities. As state senator, I will do everything in my power to support the dedicated law enforcement officers who work tirelessly to support safe, prosperous communities, which is what we all want at the end of the day. The madness has to stop.”
