Yonkers Insider: DA Candidate Mimi Rocah Releases Fundraising Results.

***PRESS RELEASE***

DA Candidate Mimi Rocah Releases Fundraising Results.
Progressive Challenger Strongly Outpaces Incumbent in  Grassroots Support, Money Raised, Total Cash on Hand.
WESTCHESTER, NY - Democrat Mimi Rocah, the 16-year federal prosecutor running for Westchester County District Attorney, today released her campaign finance totals for the current reporting period, showing an overwhelming advantage in grassroots strength in her campaign to unseat career politician Tony Scarpino.
“This campaign is about bringing the best ideas and the strongest experience to the District Attorney’s office, implementing overdue reforms that will keep every resident safe,” said Rocah. “Our message of standing up to Trump and the NRA to stop gun violence, of smartly addressing the opioid crisis, and of ending racial bias in criminal justice enforcement is resonating, and it’s resonating strongly. “
Rocah’s filing, which was submitted to the State Board of Elections Friday evening, indicates tremendous grassroots strength, with contributions totaling nearly $206,000 through 1,472 total donations, 83% of which are grassroots donations of $100 or less; and an average donation under $140. In contrast, the incumbent raised less than that, with $179,000 in total contributions, from just 167 donors; leading to an average donation north of $1,000; of Scarpino’s donations, less than 20% were grassroots donations of $100 or less.
Most striking is the difference in cash on hand going into the final month of the race.  Scarpino’s campaign reported more than $65,000 cash on hand though more than half of that sum would be unusable in the primary because it comes from sources that exceed the primary campaign finance limits, leaving his actual cash on hand for the primary at $32,426.
Through her fundraising, Rocah would have had roughly $166,000 cash on hand, but to counter the impact of Scarpino’s use of office resources for promotion and party machine backing, she is loaning her campaign an additional $300,000, giving her a total of $466,000 cash on hand.
“Unlike my opponent, I don’t have a taxpayer-funded, 24/7 press staff; I don’t have government staff doing campaign work for me; and I don’t – nor will I ever - raise money from the DA’s staff whose jobs I control, from attorneys with business before the office, or from politicians under my jurisdiction,” said Rocah.
This is the second straight campaign financial filing in which Rocah has outraised and outperformed the incumbent, having raised $328,000 in her January filing as compared to Scarpino’s $131,000.
