FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CITY OF YONKERS TO CONDUCT CITYWIDE STREET CLEANING MAY 18-24 WITH ALTERNATE-SIDE OF STREET PARKING RULES BACK IN EFFECT.
Yonkers On-Street Parking Meters Hours Remain Shortened from 10AM-6PM during New York State’s PAUSE.
YONKERS, NY – May 14, 2020 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced the City of Yonkers will conduct citywide cleaning of city streets and enforce alternate-side parking rules next week. Effective Monday, May 18 through Sunday, May 24 the Yonkers Department of Public Works (DPW) crews will resume with its street-sweeping hours and work daily to clear the accumulated debris from streets since the issued stay-at-home order.
“We realize a significant amount of litter and debris have accumulated on the streets since the start of this pandemic,” said Mayor Spano. “When our city looks its best, we feel better about where we live. I encourage residents to be patient and ask for their assistance to ensure this city wide street cleaning can be completed quickly and effectively.”
Alternate side of the street parking rules will then be suspended for an additional two weeks, May 25th through June 7th, during which time the city will reassess cleanliness. Violations of the parking regulations will be strictly enforced.
Yonkers on-street parking meter hours will remain shortened (10AM-6PM) during the New York State’s PAUSE. However, if residents need to park for extended hours it is suggested that they utilize city garages or lots.
