American Nurses Endorse Congressman Eliot Engel for Re-Election.
NEW YORK - Declaring that Congressman Eliot Engel is a “crucial voice in this time of crisis when nurses are putting their lives on the line,” the American Nurses Association Political Action Committee has endorsed the veteran Representative for re-election in New York’s 16th District.
“Congressman Eliot has been a public health care advocate throughout his career and believes empowering nurses is good for patients and good for the country," said American Nurses Association President Ernest J. Grant. “Engel is a crucial voice in this time of crisis when nurses are putting their lives on the line so we can recover faster and stronger. We need a member of Congress that will make it a priority to transform the country's health care system into one that is high quality, affordable and accessible."
ANA-PAC endorses candidates who display a commitment to advancing the nursing profession and advocating on health care issues that affect nurses and the public, both on Capitol Hill and in their congressional districts.
“Nurses are on the front line of this pandemic, and I will continue to fight to deliver the PPE they need to save lives,” said Congressman Engel, a founding member of the Medicare for All Caucus. “I’m honored to accept this endorsement, particularly in this time of crisis - and I pledge to continue the fight to expand and improve the quality of public healthcare for all.”
