Schools & Central Office Closed Monday, November 11.

All Yonkers public schools and the Central Office are closed Monday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day.  Please join the City of Yonkers' annual Veterans Day ceremony, Monday morning at 11:00AM at Veterans Memorial Plaza, 40 South Broadway.

Veterans Day has its origins in the signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918 that ended the First World War. Even before the United States entered the war, our city, its people, industry and institutions were involved in preparations. For example, in February 1917, the Yonkers Board of Education offered course work and study to drafted men at Saunders Trade School, now Saunders Trades and Technical High School. Learn more
